KARACHI, Jan 9: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, on Friday, denied bursting of any pipeline at Shahrah-i-Chishti in North Nazimabad Town.

The spokesman for KWSB claimed that there was a slight leakage in the water supply line, which was later repaired.

According to him, due to absence of side drainage system, the leaking water flowed to portion of the road having sub-standard construction and caused nominal damage. If certain defects identified in the construction of this road were not removed, there was likelihood of its total destruction in case of rainfall, he added.

He said it was the effort of water board to repair maximum number of leakages during the current winter within the available resources. As regards supply of water in Buffer Zone, the spokesman pointed out that underground tanks in the house neither had gate valve nor float valve and as a result the drinking water was flowing on roads. He said that complaints regarding water would continue until encroachments were removed from over six-inch-dia pipeline.

He said the Town Nazim and Naib Nazim and Water Board had repeatedly appealed the residents to get the valves installed. Under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, he said that the town administration can take action against the defaulting residents. -APP
