MUMBAI, Jan 8: Kapil Dev, one of the greatest names in Indian cricket history, having led the team to victory in 1983 World Cup final, said the best moment of his career, when he was chosen to represent his country in Pakistan in 1978.
Kapil Dev, who has written a new book about his life, spoke about the best and worst moments of his cricket career?
"The best was when I was chosen for the first time as a 19-year-old to represent India (in Pakistan in 1978). I was a lad from Chandigarh which at that time was a small town but is now a happening place.
"I could not sleep for two nights prior to my Test debut which was the only time that happened to me throughout my career. The worst moment was losing Bangalore Test to Pakistan by just 16 runs and the series as well early in 1987".
"I have nothing to hide. I have no worries. I've said what I think of my life, my friends, teammates, the cricket board and the media (in the book)". "What I want to put across is that we should accept people at face value and not focus on negatives. For young players my message is that they should always be honest to themselves and not lie and cheat", Kapil wrote.-PPI
