Workshop on leasing

KARACHI, Jan 6: Leasing Association of Pakistan on Tuesday held the inaugural session of a workshop that was attended by heads of leasing and modaraba companies. Commissioner of Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan Etrat Rizvi inaugurated the workshop.

Speaking on this occasion he advised LAP to enhance its role further to become a true self-regulatory organization and also to facilitate integration of various non-bank finance companies association into a unified platform.

"Mr. Rizvi also advised LAP to create affiliations with Saarc countries for an overall development of the leasing relationship and professional links with each other," says a press release.

Sudhir Amembal who conducted the workshop traced the evolution of leasing industry globally and identified the opportunities for further growth of the leasing sector in Pakistan. Mr Amembal has authored 14 books on leasing. LAP chairman Basheer A. Chowdry said the workshop is being attended by participants from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt and Sri Lanka.
