KARACHI, Jan 4: The Khidmat Khalq Foundation on Sunday winded up its three-day-long campaign for collecting relief goods for victims of the recent earthquake in Iran, the voluntary organization said.

Goods worth millions of rupees were collected during its drive, it added. The voluntary organization, sponsored by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said relief centres were set up in collaboration with a British welfare organization, Sun.

Relief goods collected during the campaign, included over 5,000 blankets and quilts, food items, medicines and woollen clothes, a press release issued by the organization said.

It said these items would be dispatched within a day or two along with a medical aid committee and paramedical staff. In-charge of the MQM's coordination committee Anwar Alam and others briefed the journalists in this regard.

KKF president Shaikh Liaquat Hussain, while highlighting the organization's humanitarian services, said that their medical aid team, led by Abdul Khaliq Baloch, would soon leave for Iran.

The press release stated that advisor for home affairs to Sindh Chief Minister Aftab Ahmad Shaikh, who visited various relief camps in the city, urged the people to contribute generously in this regard, helping their Iranian brethren.
