PPP, PML-N criticize Musharraf

HYDERABAD, Jan 1: The People's Party Parliamentarians, Hyderabad chapter, on Thursday held a protest meeting at the party secretariat against President Gen Pervez Musharraf's move to obtain a vote of confidence.

Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad PPP general-secretary Mohammad Amin Lakho said it was the blackest day in the constitutional history of the country. He criticized the MMA for supporting Gen Musharraf on the Legal Framework Order issue.

He said the PPP would not accept the LFO as a part of the Constitution and would continue its protest from the platform of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) also observed a black day against Gen Musharraf. Speaking at a protest meeting, PML-N leader Sultan Shaikh said his party would continue its struggle from the ARD platform.

HCCI: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has congratulated President Musharraf on obtaining a vote of confidence from parliament and provincial assemblies, said a joint statement issued here on Thursday by HCCI office-bearers Emad Siddiqui and others.
