PESHAWAR, May 13: Speakers at a workshop on higher education have stressed the need for allocation of maximum funds for conducting research at national universities.
Peshawar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani inaugurated the two-day workshop here at the Area Studies Centre of the university on Monday.
The workshop focused on greater diversification in higher education, importance of this discipline in socio-cultural and economic uplift occurring in Pakistan and around the world.
Dr Gilani, on the occasion, said that higher education was faced with great challenges and difficulties in every aspect of life. New generation would need to be equipped with new skills, knowledge and ideals, he added.
He emphasised the need for making reforms in post-graduate studies for motivating researchers to help progress the country in various fields.
Mrs Jackie Charlton, senior adviser on governance, department of international development stressed the need to get proper access to the higher education. Pakistan needed to find ways for the management of universities and for generation of resources to help smoothly run the higher studies, she added.
