Four lawyers beaten up

SARGODHA, Dec 20: Four lawyers were injured in a scuffle with private persons on sessions court’s premises on Saturday morning and lawyers have announced a strike on Monday to protest the incident.

The lawyers have alleged that assailants had backing of local political elite and the police which played the role of silent spectator.

Zahid, alias Billa, of Chak 104-NB, along with his accomplices appeared before Additional Sessions Judge Mohsin Raza Khan to seek interim bail in a case lodged by an advocate, Umer Farooq.

A group of young lawyers gathered in front of the court and protested against the accused and the police on which Zahid’s armed accomplices Umar Farooq, Mehr Asif Chaudhry, Zeeshan and Muhammad Asif Ghugh allegedly thrashed the lawyers, who were hospitalised.

MURDER: Two people were shot dead allegedly over old enmity on Friday. Victims Saqlain and Nasir were cousins. The Satellite Town police registered a case against Arshad Chawla and Imran Sheikh, who fled.

BODY: The mutilated body of a man kidnapped for ransom four days ago was found in Chak 35-NB on Saturday.

Dawood Dogar allegedly kidnapped Muhammad Yaqoob for ransom from Babu Mohallah. On Saturday, Dog led the police to recover Yaqoob’s mutilated body.
