Five killed in road accidents

GUJRANWALA, May 12: Five people, including two brothers, were killed while over two dozen others sustained injuries in road accidents in and around the city here on Sunday.

Haji Muhammad Mushtaq and Muhammad Naeem were on their way to Aroop village by their motorcycle. Near Lohianwala by-pass intersection a speeding truck hit their bike. The former died instantly while the latter expired at the local DHQ Hospital.

Police arrested the fleeing driver Bakhtawar and registered a case against him.

Muhammad Tufail of Talwandi Khajurwali died instantly and a dozen others were injured when a wagon rammed into a roadside tree on the Talwandi-Khajurwali Road. The accident occurred when the driver tried to save a donkey. The injured were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

Sultan Ali was knocked down and killed by a speeding coaster on the GT Road, Kamoke. He was crossing the road.

Ghulam Nabi was killed while around a dozen others sustained injuries when a mini-bus collided head-on with a stationary tractor-trolley on the Alipur Chattha Road.
