Growers had to face losses during the last year because their per acre yield dropped due to the sowing of low standard seed.
An official told newsmen that a local trader’s godowns had been specifically pointed out to the department. A raid was organized on godowns without taking into confidence officials of the local Agriculture Department and others to maintain secrecy.
A team comprising Agriculture deputy directors, Multan and Faisalabad, and other staff of both cities raided godowns on the Jhang Road near a flour mills and recovered over 1,300 seed bags worth thousands of rupees.
The raiding team sealed the godowns and recommended the high-ups for further legal action.
