Murderer killed in encounter

KOHAT, May 11: A fugitive wanted by the police in two murder cases and a number of highway robberies was killed in an encounter in the jungles near the Lachi city, 22 kilometres from here, on Friday morning, police sources said.

The ASP, Nisar Khan Tanoli, told newsmen here that Misbahuddin was at large since 1994 after killing two civilians and injuring an official of the Lachi police station. He had let loose a reign of terror in the area and extorted huge sums of money from traders and gypsum mine owners.

The police acting on a tip off conducted an operation near Lachi where Misbahuddin was killed whereas his accomplice escaped.—Correspondent
