ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The government would give sympathetic consideration to the demands of flour mill industry and their problems would be resolved on priority basis, said Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal.
He was talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Flour Mills Association led by its chairman Muhammad Naeem Butt here on Wednesday.
The minister was briefed about the problems currently facing the flour mill industry and requested to relax inter-provincial movement of wheat.
The millers asked the government to release wheat from its stocks by August 15 and the State Bank of Pakistan should relax monitory policy for issuance of loans to flour mills.
They also urged the government to give share to mills in imported wheat and increase wheat quota.
The minister assured the delegation that he would take up the issue with the prime minister and said his ministry would devise a comprehensive strategy in consultation with Passco, provincial governments and other stakeholders to address the problems being faced by the flour mills.—APP
