KARACHI, May 6: Seven ships carrying general cargo, containers and oils are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday.

According to KPT sources berthing and sailing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as a dozen ships participated, the berth occupancy rates being 39 and 67 per cent at the dry wharves and the oil piers respectively.

Five ships, Sima Roja, Kota Pusaka, Iwato to unload and load containers, Althea to unload fertilizer and Ievole Shine to offload chemicals were berthed after the sailing of seven.

The ships, which departed included Jamila, Abu Dhabi, Diamond, Hyundai Bridge, Sima Roja, Emirate Star-11, Panda and Kenwood Park, while Ievoli Shine, Abdoun Discovery, Kota Pusaka and Iwato are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage, the total tonnage rose to 90,368 tons comprising 7,521 tons of export cargo and 82,847 tons of import tonnage including 53,276 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Ping Jiang, with general cargo, Alvelos, with oils, Winco Feeder, Wan Hai-235, Sl-Mirqab, and Leixoes with containers.

KARACHI, May 6: A ship, Bador, carrying chemicals was berthed at Engro Vopak Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Monday.

Another ship, Endeavour II, with 58,000 tons diesel oil also got anchored at the outer anchorage and was expected to take berth at Fotco Oil Terminal on Monday.

Four ships, Olympic, Eltanin, Bador and Alpa Gemini were engaged in discharging edible oil and coal.

Cargo handling activity remained moderate at the port where a total of 10,768 tons cargo comprising 5,323 tons edible oil and 5,445 tons coal, was handled.
