KARACHI, Oct 24: A young man was found strangled in a garbage container in Kalakot on Wednesday.
The dead man, identified as Jan Mohammed, aged 30, was suspected to have been kidnapped on Tuesday. When a search was mounted, he was found dead, with suspected marks of torture on his body, in a garbage container in Kalakot.
The police said that Jan Mohammed had been jobless and been living alone in a quarter in Ghareeb Mohalla. The police suspected personal enmity to be the motive for the killing. The police had no clue to suspects till our going to the press.
A man was stabbed to death in Gizri on Wednesday night.
The police said that Syed Maqsood Husain Shah, aged 35, had a TV repair shop in Gizri commercial area. Police said that unidentified men came to his shop. They had an argument with the shopkeeper during which they stabbed him, and fled the scene.
The shopkeeper was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre in a critical condition where he died, the police said.
A fisherman who had been attacked with an axe in a fight with some crew members on a fishing trip died in Civil Hospital.
The police said that Mohammed Ramazan, aged 30, had gone on a fishing trip on Oct 1. On board the vessel he developed differences with some crew members who manhandled him.
The suspected killer had been taken into custody, the police said.
DIES: A boy was found dead in mysterious circumstances near the railway tracks in Railway Colony on Wednesday.
The police said that Syed Ghulam Mohammed, aged 13, was found dead with foam coming out of his mouth near the railway tracks at Gharibabad Power House in Railway Colony.
The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The autopsy report had been reserved till the receipt of histopathological and chemical tests, the police said.
The police said that the boy was a student of class VIII.
ROBBERIES: Nine robberies were committed in the city on Wednesday, the police said.
Bandits barged into the house of Shamshad in Korangi, collected cash and valuables and escaped with the loot.
Robbers raided the house of Rehmat in Pak Colony and looted cash and valuables at gunpoint.
Bandits intercepted Nusrat Ali in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and robbed him of cash.
Dacoits robbed a shopkeeper of cash in Sharafi Goth.
Bandits raided Sikandar Ali’s house in Darakhshan and got away with cash, local currency and US dollars, and gold jewellery.
Syed Mujahid lodged a report at Buffer Zone police station that bandits robbed him of cash and a mobile phone.
Tariq Mehmood lodged a complaint at Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station that unidentified persons raided his shop and took away cash, gold jewellery and a revolver.
Bandits raided Mohammed Iqbal’s house in Orangi Town and got away with one computer and one video camera.
Qadir Bakhsh lodged a report at Gulzar-i-Hijri police station that bandits robbed him of a mobile phone and important documents.
CARJACKING: Five vehicles — two cars and five motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Wednesday, the police said.
The cars were stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Tipu Sultan.
Four motorcycles were stolen in Garden, Kalri, Saddar, and Shahrah-i-Noor Jahan. Another was hijacked in Nabi Bakhsh.
The police also claimed on Wednesday to have recovered three cars and three motorcycles in the city.
