KARACHI, July 7: Justice Khwaja Naveed Ahmed of the Sindh High Court granted bail to three accused in the Rs150 million heist in the city on January 6.

The cash van of M/s H&H Currency Exchange was chased by some suspects from the airport. Foreign currency worth Rs150 million was looted as the van reached its destination at Saima Towers on I.I. Chundrigar Road. Police arrested three accused – Salim, Akhtar Bashir and Ahmed Ali – and charge-sheeted them before a sessions court. Hameedullah and Noor Khan, guards of the Silver and Eagle Security Agency, which was responsible for safe operations of the cash van and office security, were also booked but they could not be arrested and were declared absconders.

Admitting the accused to bail in the sum of Rs100,000 each, the high court noted that their names were not mentioned in the FIR. No recovery was made from them. They were identified not by the van driver or the cashier of the exchange but by a chowkidar.
