KARACHI, June 15: Two hundred and fifty affectees of a housing project will finally get the allotment letters through the efforts of the National Accountability Bureau at a simple ceremony at the Arts Council on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the NAB on Sunday, the builder booked all the houses in the project, launched in 1993, envisaging the construction of 2,443 bungalows of various categories on 102.11 acres of land till 1995.
A huge amount was collected from allottees from 1993 to 2003, but the builder did not complete the project within the stipulated time as per terms and conditions of the agreement. The project was later abandoned. The allottees neither got the allotment letters nor were refunded their money.
On their complaint, an investigation was carried out by the Sindh chapter of the accountability bureau and 250 victims were handed over the allotment papers in December 2006. Efforts were made to safeguard the interest of rest of the allottees and finally they started getting possession of their properties.—APP
