GUJRAT, May 2: The head of the radiology department of the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital has complained to the district Nazim against medical superintendent for appropriating his share from medical funds, it is learnt on Tuesday.

In a written application to the Nazim, radiologist Dr Mahmoodul Hassan alleged MS Dr Aslam Butt had been appropriating his and cardiologist Dr Malik Saleem’s share of funds from the day he took charge.

On demanding share, he said Dr Butt threatened him that he would give adverse remarks in annual confidential report, if he continued to ask for his share.

On taking up the issue to higher authorities, he alleged the MS complained to the health secretary that Dr Hassan was not performing his duties honestly. He regretted the MS had aired disinformation to settle some personal grievance.

When contacted, Dr Butt claimed it was his discretion to take the share. He claimed he had been taking share of both the radiologist and cardiologist as they were not selectees (those who got the jobs through public service commission examinations).

Dr Hassan, however, showed this correspondent a letter No SO (H&D)-12-13-73 whose section of “apportionment of fees” revealed that out of the total fees, 45 per cent will go to the government, 35 per cent is the doctor’s share and 20 per cent of the share goes to paramedics.

Replying to a question, Dr Hassan said it was the choice of cardiologist Dr Saleem not to pursue his case.

He said he had also submitted a written application to the Gujrat DCO against the MS.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that Dr Butt was reluctant to purchase medicines following his tussle with pharmacy head Dr Afsheen.
