OKARA, June 13: The doctors of the district headquarters hospital ended their strike after a provincial minister assured them of full security.
Doctors were on strike for the last couple of days after Rai Mazhar, brother of Pakistan People’s Party MNA Rai Hassan Mujtaba, thrashed a medical officer of the district hospital. Moreover, Okara police did not register a case against Mazhar and his accomplices after a lapse of 48 hours.
However, the police registered a case against Mazhar and his accomplices under sections 186, 506, 148, 149 and 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Thursday evening.
On Friday, provincial minister Muhammad Ashraf Sohna and local PPP leader Muhammad Arif Chaudhry met the protesting doctors and convinced them to end the strike. Sohna also apologised to doctors over the incident. — Correspondent
