KARACHI, May 13: Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said that the government was trying to create more job opportunities to resolve the lingering issue of unemployment in the province.

She was talking to newsmen at an open kachehry at Bilawal House here on Tuesday. Ms Marri termed unemployment the biggest issue faced by the present government. “Although we have 40,000 vacant posts but we are trying to increase it by approaching private sectors at the national and international levels because of the higher demand as compared to the supply”, she said.

In response to a question, she said that only those employed on a contract basis would be sacked from their jobs to create more vacancies.

Criticising previous government, she said that many promises were made them but were not fulfilled. “The problems created by the last government are the major hurdles in the way of development of the country”, she said.

To a question, she said that PML-N ministers had been withdrawn from federal cabinet but not from the treasury benches.

She said that the PPP’s government always wanted to restore the deposed judges, because PPP activists sacrificed their lives for their reinstatement.—PPI
