LRC punishes horse to create history

Published May 11, 2008

LAHORE, May 10: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) created history when it punished a horse by not allowing him to race for three days, something unheard of in the history of the 80-year-old club.

The horse, Sher-e-Punjab, was withdrawn from the May 4 race after being certified unfit by the LRC senior veterinary officer.

This was followed by LRC’s stopping his entry for three days — from May 4 to 7.

Ironically, the suspension had the least bit of affect on the horse as no race was held during those three days.

The incident has become a source of amusement for the entire racing community.—AG
