KARACHI, May 10: Fancied four-year-old bay filly Diamond In Dust, which has caught the eyes of horse racing fans of late, looks certain to land the feature event should she overcome her opponents in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She has come out with splendid performance winning the last three races on the trot which speaks of her present form. If nothing unforeseen happens, she will go all out to stretch her winning run.

There are only five acceptors in the class V, division I and II race, which is fourth on the day’s programme, to be run over six furlongs. Colt Tyre Jee which had done owner Kamal Farooq proud last weekend is likely to follow Diamond In Dust.

The third race, which is also the supporting event, should see four-year-old bay colt Spirit Of Arab winning the honours.

The colt eyeing to make it two-in-a-row has been consistent having placed thrice before sprinting to a five lengths’ victory under Nasir in the last run.

Six horses are in line to face the starter in this class VI race to be gone over six furlongs barring last minute withdrawals.

Either of the two — chestnut Desert Hawk or filly Leopard Of Arab — should follow Spirit Of Arab.

If all goes well seven-year-old mare Blind Date looks set to make amends by picking up the spoils in the top division of class VII, which is the second race.

Owned by KRC chairman Syed Sadruddin Shah, the mare has settled for second place in the last three outings after returning with flying colours four times in succession.

John Player, Manan Prince and Mr Mention Not come in the reckoning for places. Three-year-old chestnut colt Hinglachi should present his owner with yet another winner in the opener.

His likely challengers are Baby John, Sayeen Jee and Mushki.

Mare Mixed Blessing, which has failed to finish on the board in the last seven runs, is poised to atone for the losses in the fifth race.

Filly Chun Chun Chun, which galloped to five lengths victory over Walayat on April 27, is rated to repeat her feat in the sixth while bay Bharosa should overcome the field to land the seventh and last race.

A card of seven races has been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 1.30pm.
