MIRPURKHAS, April 20: Sindh Minister for Agriculture Syed Ali Nawaz Shah has said that problems of farmers would be solved on a priority basis after bringing reforms in the agriculture sector. He added that youths would be provided training and equal employment opportunities.
He was speaking at a public meeting in village Makhan Samoon here on Sunday.
Mr Ali Nawaz said that the PPP had come to power because of great sacrifices of Ms Benazir Bhutto and she had a dream of progress of the country and prosperity of masses which must be realised.
He assured the abadgars that the certified seed and standardised fertilisers would be provided at their doorsteps.
He said that he would hold an open Katchehry each month at union council level to know the grievances of public.
Former provincial minister Hari Ram Kishori Lal, Mir Fazlullah Talpur, nazim UC Nawab Khaskheli and Comrade Mir Mohammad Junejo also spoke on the occasion.
Later, speaking at an open Katchehry outside his residence, the minister directed the irrigation officials to ensure availability of water at tail-end areas for drinking purpose.
He said that Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had directed all ministers to hold the open Katchehry in their constituencies and solve people’s problems.
He said he would not practice politics of police station and gun culture and honest officers would not be disturbed.
He said that he had set up a special committee which would visit backward areas to bring a change in agriculture field.
He asked the irrigation officers to provide equal share of water to each branch without discrimination.
Earlier hundreds of people including PPP workers greeted him when he arrived at the Jamrao canal bridge.
KILLED: A youth was shot dead by unidentified men and his body was found lying near Saleem Lawn on Ring road here on Sunday.
Jagal Mari, 30, resident of village Mero Mari, taluka Hussain Bux Mari was shot dead by assailants. Town police shifted his body to Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas for an autopsy.
No case was registered till the filing of this report.
