Navy, Wapda advance into last four

LAHORE, April 20: Navy and Wapda joined Habib Bank anf Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in the semifinal of the fourth All-Pakistan Noor invitation basketball tournament at the Defence Stadium, Lahore Friday

The prefinal is to be held late Saturday night with Navy meeting HBL and POF Wah playing Wapda.

Navy recovered to beat Railways 63-54 in the first match Friday night.

Railways led the first half 40-35, but failed to maintain the lead in the second session.

Navy displayed a more attacking game in the second session as their Ghulam Mustafa (34) found the target in quick successions.

He was the major contributor for Navy as no other player reached double figures. Shoaib (9), Nadeem (8) and Omer (7) also added points. For Railways, Amir (19), Asim (10), Adnan (11), Khurram (9) and Azmat (6) fought well.

Wapda outclassed Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by a big margin of 74-51 after taking a slender 32-31 lead at the half time. Jahangir (26) was the principal scorer for Wapda. Ishaq (15), Imran (10) and Amir and Shahid Ali with five points each were the other main scorers for the winners.

For PAF, Gul Hasan exhibited good game and scored 16 points. Safdar, Imran and Nadeem added eight points, each.
