Foundation stone laid

SAHIWAL, April 20: A medical trust of a group of companies on Friday laid the foundation stone of a hospital in Qadirabad, GT Road, some 18km from Okara and Sahiwal.

Trust member Bareenuddin said the construction of the hospital would be completed within an year at a cost of Rs30 million.

Initially, he said an eye unit and gynaecology centre would start functioning.

Equipped with latest technology, he said the institute would train professionals on modern lines.

He maintained the site had been preferred in view of the requirements of poor patients who did not afford expensive treatment.

Group Chairman Iqbal Ali Lakhani and a large number of people attended the ceremony.

Reduction: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has issued notification of 33 per cent reduction to tubewells bills on the directives of the government.

The notification said farmers would pay 67 per cent of the bills of their tubewells for the month of April, May and June.

The shortfall of 33 per cent would be borne by the Punjab Electricity Duty and Wapda at the ratio of 75 and 25 per cent, respectively.
