KARACHI, March 23: Promising Asfand Rauf picked up his first domestic title when he teamed up with Robin Das to defeat brothers Zuhair and Abbas in the men’s doubles final of the third Sindh ranking tennis tournament on Sunday at the Beach View Club.

The winners faced no resistance and were home in convincing fashion 6-2, 6-0.

Talha Zubair won his second title in two weeks, notching up a straight 6-1, 6-3 victory over Fraz Ahmed Faiz in the boys’ under-13 singles final.

Abdul Rehman qualified to meet Adil Kohari in the boys’ under-15 final with a 6-3, 6-2 drubbing of Nameer Shamsi in the second semi-final. Adil had beaten Mustafa Zaidi in a three-set duel on Saturday.

The tournament concludes on Monday.

Juniors’ U-17 singles semi-final: Omer Shahid bt Mustafa Zaidi 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6).

Boys’ U-15 singles semi-final: Abdul Rehman bt Nameer Shamsi 6-3, 6-2.

Boys’ U-13 singles final: Talha Zubair bt Fraz Ahmed Faiz 6-1, 6-3.
