KARACHI, March 22: Karachi University students can get their exam results on cellular phones through a short-messaging service after an agreement inked by the university with an information technology firm.
According to the Controller of Examinations, Karachi University, Prof Maqsood Hussain, the university has entered into an agreement with Keyframe Interactive Company whereby students would be able to get their exam results on cellular phone through SMS.
He said that under the agreement a copy of results to be announced by the university would also be made available to the firm. The candidates desirous of ascertaining their result could approach the firm to obtain their results through SMS. He pointed out that service charges would be deducted from the respective cellular phone callers at the rate of Rs14 per SMS.
He said a candidate to ascertain his result would be required to write KU, exam name, seat number, and send this short message to ‘78601’ from any mobile number.
The University of Karachi has, meanwhile, announced that March 24 will be observed as a holiday on account of the Pakistan Day falling this year on Sunday.
BS, MCS results
The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology announced on Saturday the results of BS and MCS examinations.
According to the notification, the results of following programmes have been announced: BS (Physics) second semester, 2nd batch 2007 (morning); BS (Chemistry) second semester, 2nd batch 2007 (morning); BS (Chemistry) fourth semester, 1st batch 2006 (morning); MCS (morning) second semester, first batch (repeaters); MCS (evening) first semester, 1st batch (repeaters); MCS (evening) second semester, 1st batch (repeaters); MCS (evening) second semester, 1st batch (special); BS (CS) first semester, 1st batch (repeaters) evening; BS (CS) second semester, 2nd batch (repeaters) evening; and BS (CS) third semester, 1st batch (repeaters) evening.
Digital library
The Higher Education Commission arranged a workshop for training on digital library at the city campus of the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi on Saturday.
An HEC team from Islamabad, led by Hassan Zaidi, imparted the training to the participants of the workshop.
The workshop was aimed at increasing awareness and broadening the level of understanding for online resources in order to promote research culture among students and faculty members, an IBA official said.
Besides faculty members and chairpersons of various departments, a large number of students and the staff attended the workshop.
Admit cards
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi has announced that admit cards for SSC Part-I (Class IX) and Part-II (Class X) General Group (Regular) would be ready for collection from March 23 to 29.
The SSC Annual Examination 2008 for Science and General Groups (regular and private) will commence from April 15.
The heads of recognised secondary schools have been asked to send their representatives with authority letters to the board office for the collection of admit cards between 9.30am and 4pm on the following dates.—Agencies
