JHANG, March 12: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested around two dozen activists belonging to two defunct outfits from across the district.
The police launched a crackdown on the banned organisations in the wee hours on Wednesday which continued throughout the day.
Twenty activists of Millat-i-Islamia Party were arrested in the clampdown, and they are Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, Mohammad Abubakar, Qari Khalil Ahmed, Maulana Abdul Waris, Mohammad Naeem, alias Commando, Mushtaq, Afzal, Abid, Shah Mohammad, Mohammad Sarwar, Abdul Razzaq, Sultan Mahmood, Mohammad Yasin, Abdul Hameed, Rafaqat, Mohammad Tariq, Ghulam Murtaza, Aqeel Ahmed Zakir, Khalid, alias Chottu, and Maqsood Ahmed. Sultan Mahmood was later released.
Five Islami Tehrik Pakistan activists netted during the drive are Mohammad Arif, alias Puppy, Abid Husain, Muzaffar Abbas, Azhar Abbas and Abuzar. — Correspondent
