KARACHI, Feb 26: Bhitai Colony, a neighbourhood near Korangi Crossing, remained in the grip of tension on Tuesday following a clash between two political groups the previous evening that had left six people injured.

According to the area police, a clash was sparked by a dispute over a wooden cabin for snooker and a makeshift roadside restaurant.

They said that trouble started a little after midnight when armed groups exchanged fire that left six people injured.

The police said the disputed cabin and the makeshift restaurant were also set on fire by the clashing workers.

The injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where they were identified as Mohammed Hanif, brother of the cabin owner, Faisal alias Sami, Sajid, Rashid Nawaz Niazi, Imtiaz and Mama Hameed. The police said four of the injured were PPP workers.

ASI Manzoor Ahmed said two police mobile vans had been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident.
