NEW DELHI, Feb 18: Security here was stepped up on Monday after police received intelligence reports that unnamed militant outfits were planning a major terror strike in the city, Press Trust of India said.
“We received an input that some militant outfits are planning to create terror in the national capital by targeting some prominent locations and based on that we have taken necessary security precautions,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh told PTI.
The input was of general nature but police has stepped up security in Delhi so as not to take any chance, Mr Singh said.
Following the intelligence warning on Monday, Delhi Police chief Y.S. Dadwal ordered stepped up vigil at all major markets and shopping malls, railway stations, Delhi Metro and bus stands, etc., PTI said.
Vigil has also been increased on Delhi’s entry points, with Delhi police officials maintaining a close coordination with the neighbouring states.
