PESHAWAR, Feb 16: The city police on Saturday recovered high-powered explosives from an under construction house at Shaftal Banda in the limits of Phundo police station. A spokesman for the Capital City Police said the explosives included 46 dynamites, 42 detonators, 60 safety fuses, and five-meter cable.

He said the explosives were packed in a sack and following instructions from the CCPO the officials of the bomb disposal squad opened the sack and defused the explosives.

The police said no one had so far been arrested, adding that efforts were made to arrest the owner of the house and other suspected persons in this regard.

Meanwhile, panic was created when people started crying about presence of a bomb in the limits of Kotwali police station.

A police official, when contacted, said it was not a bomb but its shape was like a bomb which was stuffed with iron pieces.

He said it was kept closed to a parked motor car. The officials of the bomb disposal squad, he said, were immediately called who declared it a fake bomb.

He said the increasing explosions had scared the people who were avoiding touching even a minor suspected thing.
