Clarification

LAHORE, Feb 13: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has clarified a report regarding gas supply appeared in Dawn on February 12.

A press release issued here on Wednesday said: “Despite the fact that most of Aptma units have signed a 9-month gas supply agreement with the SNGPL, the textile mills were supplied gas for 23 days during December, 21 days during January and throughout February on rotation basis over and above the contractual obligation”.

It said the “SNGPL shall endeavour to provide more gas to textile sector as weather conditions are likely to improve during February”.

The press release said although fertiliser sector was on a 12-month contract, the SNGPL requested the fertiliser plants to go on annual turnaround during winter months for the purpose of sharing crisis.

It said the fertiliser plants -- Pak Arab Fertiliser, Multan; Dawood Hecules Chemicals Ltd, Lahore; and Pak American Fertiliser, Daudkhel -- responded positively and went on annual turnaround from January 1 to 26, from January 11 to 27 and from January 20 till to-date, respectively.
