LARKANA, Feb 10: Former leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Sunday that politicians had created this country and the army had no right to rule.
Mr Khuhro, who is senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party, said at a corner meeting that the elements who conspired to eliminate Benazir Bhutto were mistaken to think that they had succeeded in erasing her from people’s hearts. He said that the history would never forget the 30-year untiring struggle of Ms Bhutto for the cause of democracy and Feb 18 would prove that this country belonged to the people and not to dictators.
She showed courage in her unflinching support for democratic rule in the country and finally laid down her life for the cause and attained immortality after achieving martyrdom, he said.
Shahid Bhutto, PPP’s candidate for NA-204 said without naming PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) that the party, along with Ms Bhutto’s opponents, had observed what he called ‘fake chehlum’ on Feb 5. Ghinwa Bhutto who claimed to be part of Bhutto family was sitting with PML-Q and enjoying the support of the likes of Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, he said.
He accused Dr Arbab of selling out Sindh’s land and condoning the unwritten ban on Sindhis’ employment in Karachi.
Food was served to the participants at the end of the meeting.
PROTEST: Traders closed their shops in Resham Gali and staged a procession, which ended in a sit-in at Jinnahbagh Chowk here on Sunday, in protest against growing incidents of street crime in the city after closing their trade in Resham Gali.
