Ban on sale of sedatives at LRC

Published February 7, 2008

LAHORE, Feb 6: According to a notification issued by the Lahore Race Club (LRC) on Wednesday, a strict ban with immediate affect has been imposed on the possession and sale of sedatives within the club premises.

Only LRC’s veterinary officer is authorised to keep them by approval of the club’s acting secretary Shahzad Akhtar. The LRC senior veterinary officer will be administering such drugs with proper record being maintained.

This action has been taken keeping in view the mounting complaints about quacks involved in the unauthorised sale of medicines and sedatives within the club premises, which has adversely affected the standard of horse-racing.—A.G.
