KARACHI, Feb 6: All container terminals — Qasim International Container Terminal, Karachi International Container Terminal and Pakistan International Container Terminal — have allowed two free days from the date of full release of containers in addition to 5 free days provided earlier.
This additional facility will help consignees to take the delivery of their goods without paying any demurrage charges for seven days. However, container terminals will impose a penalty of Rs5,000 (one time) if the consignees do not take delivery despite the additional two free days.
In case the consignees continue to abandon their cargo at the terminals thus creating congestion, the container terminals will impose this penalty after allowing additional free days, shipping and port circles said.
