JHELUM, Feb 4: Five persons were injured in a crossfire between the supporters of PML-N and PML-Q in Bohrian village of Dina tehsil on Sunday evening.

Raja Mohammad Afzal, a former MNA and his son Raja Mohammad Asad, a PML-N candidate from NA-62, were leading a procession to address a public meeting in the Bohrian village near Dina town.

The procession was first intercepted and allegedly attacked by the supporters of PML-Q’s Maqbool Joya, the Mughlabad union council nazim, in which the windscreens of two vans in the rally were smashed. However, the PML-N leaders directed their supporters to head peacefully towards the venue of the meeting.

As the procession reached a roundabout in the Bohrian village, it was again intercepted, which led to the crossfire between the two groups. As a result, three persons from the PML-Q side and two from the PML-N sustained minor injuries.

They were identified as Babar Maqbool, son of Maqbool Joya, Mohammad Fayaz and Abdul Wahid, of PML-Q; and Shabbir Ahmed and Mohammad Abbas of the PML-N.

Both the parties lodged complaints with the Mangla police and got registered FIRs against each other.

In another incident, the driver of a PPP candidate from NA-62 of Jhelum was injured when someone opened fire at him.
