SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 2: While Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik was delighted on Saturday after his team’s 5-0 triumph against Zimbabwe, his counterpart Hamilton Masakadza expressed his disappointment.

Pakistan recorded the series cleansweep as they thrashed Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the last match here.

“This victory is a result of teamwork while the seniors’ support to the juniors also played a vital role,” Malik told reporters after the match.

“We tested nine new players in the series but despite making changes (in the playing eleven) after every win to introduce new players, the overall performance of the team remained good,” he stated, adding there were some shortcomings in the areas of fielding and running between the wickets.

Malik, who was adjudged as the Man-of-the-Series, expressed that the award raised his confidence as captain.

On the players introduced in the series, the skipper said their real test would be in the Pentangular Cup starting from Feb 10. Country’s top players will represent five teams in the competition.

Meanwhile, Masakadza said his team should have won at least two matches which was his prime target.

He added that Zimbabwe needed to improve their performance, noting they still lack finishing games favourably.

Appreciating the hospitality provided by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during his squad’s stay in the country, the Zimbabwe captain insisted Pakistan was a safe country for any foreign team.

“We have been given proper care throughout our stay here for which we are thankful to the PCB,” he said. “Pakistan is quite safe for every country.”
