KARACHI, April 7: The students and teachers of St Joseph’s College for Women have opposed the proposed denationalization of their college, as it would largely affect the students belonging to poor and middle classes.

The students staged a demonstration on Tuesday near Karachi Press Club, criticizing the government’s decision to return the college to its owner.

They demanded of the government to withdraw its decision, which, they said, was not in the larger interest of education and female students.

Meanwhile, the teaching staff held a meeting at the college and observed that denationalization of St Joseph’s College and St Patrick’s College was not in favour of the students and teachers of the colleges.

They said providing education to its citizens was the responsibility of the government but it seemed that the government was backing out of its defined role.
