ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the date for filing of corporate returns for the tax year 2007 till January 31, 2008.

An official announcement issued here by FBR said that the date has been extended following demand from various trade bodies on account of difficulties faced in e-filing due to prevalent circumstances (including electricity load-shedding etc).

The FBR has already extended the date from December 31 to January 15 on the pretext that maximum corporate return and tax will be received. The revenue received with the corporate returns was around Rs5 billion this year as against Rs28 billion received last year.

FBR Secretary Information Hafeez Mughal said that the total corporate return filed till January 14 was 11,444, which increased by 20 per cent from 9,510 returns filed during the same period last year.
