Madaris facing financial crisis in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD, March 27: The Tajweedul Quran Trust, Azad Kashmir, is facing severe financial crunch following the non-provision of an annual grant of Rs3 million by the AJK Council and a grant of Rs2.5 million by the AJK government which may lead to closure of around 650 Madaris being supported by the Trust.

The payment of the Rs3 million grant sanctioned by the AJK Council for the current year has probably been stopped because of some misunderstanding bracketing the Trust Madaris with sectarian institutions that have been spreading sectional hatred in Pakistan, points out a memorandum by Trust’s honorary secretary, Prof A A Salaria.
