PESHAWAR, March 26: The Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) has said that the imposition of 15 per cent General Sales Tax on medicines will badly affect the common people.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, a central leader of the party, observed that such unwarranted decision would result into price hike of life-saving drugs that would further add to the miseries of the masses.

Resenting increase in the rates of utilities, he said that the levy of GST would adversely affect the poor.

The PPP-Sherpao leader deplored that the incumbent regime took measures in total disregard to the wishes of the people and the same could be depicted from the introduction of institutional-based practice in the NWFP. He said the new scheme was unfolded without improvement of the health infrastructure and taking the stakeholders into confidence.
