ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: As many as seven regional heads have hailed the revival of the PCB Constitution under which the inaugural meeting of the PCB Governing Board will be held on Thursday (Nov 8) at Lahore.
In a joint statement, the heads of Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Abbottabad and Islamabad regions expressed confidence that the PCB Constitution, in its present form, will improve the working of the Board on democratic lines.
The regional cricket chiefs commended the efforts of PCB Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf for introducing equal rights to all the cricketing regions with their representation on the Governing Board on a “rotational basis.”
The present method of giving representation to regions on the Governing Board is not only accepted to all these regions but these regions want implementation of this “rotational representative policy” in letter and spirit, said a statement from the regions.
The regional chiefs also emphasised that all the eleven regions must share “equal rights” as they are all are engaged in promotion of cricket and its causes. They also impressed on the Karachi region to uphold the new constitution in its true spirit. —Agencies
