PARIS, Nov 7: Chinese hurdles king Liu Xiang is on a shortlist of three to win the IAAF male Athlete of the Year award. The world champion and favourite for the Olympic title in Beijing next year is bracketed along with marathon world record-breaker Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia and world sprint champion Tyson Gay of the United States.

The winners will be announced at the 2007 World Athletics Gala in Monaco on Nov 25. —AFP
