PARACHINAR, Nov 7: Unidentified armed men opened fire on a funeral party in the Teri Meingal village in the Kurram agency killing five people, including three women members of a family, and injuring four others on Wednesday.
According to locals, an Afghan refugee, Haji Niazmeen, was taking the body of his son, Door Khan, from Peshawar to Afghanistan in a van. Other members of the family and close relatives were also commuting in the van. When the funeral party was about to reach the Teri Meingal village on the Pak-Afghan border, the armed men opened fire killing three women and two men on the spot.
The names of the dead were ascertained as Bibi Mandoze, Kamala, and wife of Haji Multan, and driver Haleem Gul and Mirza Gul.
Those injured were Wali Khan, Jafarkhela, Shabeena and Malako. All were taken to the agency headquarters hospital where its medical superintendent said that the condition of three was critical.
