LARKANA, Oct 20: District Coordination Officer (DCO) of Kashmore-Kandhkot, Syed Abid Ali Shah, urged the executive district officer of Community Development Department (CDD) on Saturday to plan centres of crisis management for women and children.

He said at a briefing given to him by the EDO at his office that the the CDD should come up with a detailed action plan for social change and reduction of poverty as well.

He suggested establishment of centres for women facing social problems and threats to their lives and for the rehabilitation of children who were forced to work due to poverty.

The EDO told the DCO that as per devolution plan, 120 registered Community Coordinated Boards (CCBs) had submitted around 100 development projects costing a total of Rs40 million out of which 15 per cent had been contributed by people.

He said that the projects which were pending with the Finance and Development Department included the project for the establishment of computer, technical teaching and learning centres, schemes for drainage, potable water, sanitary, music academy, protective walls of Eidgahs and graveyards etc.

He informed that a school had been established with funds from Pakistan Baitul Mal for the children who were engaged in child labour. The children were also getting Rs600 per month so that they could also feed their poverty-stricken families, he said.

The DCO directed the department to come up with a plan for the establishment of female crisis management centre.—APP
