NOWSHERA, Oct 20: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Afrasiab Khattak has said that critical changes are expected in the political scene of the country in the next three weeks.

Addressing a public gathering in Manki Sharif on Saturday, Mr Khattak condemned the Karachi carnage and alleged that the president and prime minister were working against the country.

“We see the Karachi bombing on the PPP rally as a potential danger for democracy and the democratic culture of the country,” he said.

He claimed that free and fair elections could not be held in the province in the presence of caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk.

“The Election Commission was also highly controversial. It is useless to expect transparent polls in the present circumstances,” he added.

He said the ANP would continue to fight for the rights of Pakhtuns.

Supporters of a former member of the provincial assembly, Tariq Hameed Khattak and Mir Bashar Khan joined the ANP on the occasion.

ANP provincial general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain was present in the public meeting.
