PESHAWAR, Sept 26: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday fined the director of the Workers Welfare Board for not appearing in the court.

A bench comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Saleem Khan ordered the director to appear in the court on the next hearing of a petition. The official was fined Rs2,000.

Mohammad Asghar, a security guard at Labour Colony in Nowshera, had filed the petition. He said he had been appointed security guard by the Workers Welfare Board on permanent basis. But, he added, when he was given the appointment letter he came to know that the terms and conditions of his service had been changed and he had been appointed on contract basis.
