Worshipper shot, injured in Pindi

RAWALPINDI, March 17: Two motorcycle riders on Saturday shot and injured a man outside a mosque in Dhok Hafiz in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station.

Police said Hakeem Nazir Ahmed was coming out of a mosque after Isha prayers when the two men opened fire on him and fled the scene. The injured was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital in a critical condition. The family of the injured claimed that they had no enemies.

Nobody else was injured in the firing, the police said.

BABAR IN CIVIL COURT: Former interior minister Naseerullah Khan Babar on Saturday appeared in the court of a senior civil judge here in a case of payment of dower.

The case had been filed by an assistant commissioner (income tax) Yasmeen Yousuf against her former husband, SP Yasin Farooq of Islamabad police.

Naseerullah Khan Babar and Mian Saleem Asghar appeared in the court of Senior Civil Judge Zubair Ahmed Cheema as witnesses and recorded their statements.

The case was adjourned during cross-examination of Ms Yousuf.
