KARACHI, Sept 13: City government officials with magisterial powers on Thursday imposed fines amounting to more than Rs2.33 million on 907 shopkeepers for overcharging.According to CDGK sources, 22 persons were sent to jail for indulging in profiteering.

The raids to check price-hike were carried out by DDOs of Revenue department and Mukhtiarkars in Clifton, Saddar, Jamshed, Keamari, Baldia, Orangi, Site, Gulberg, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Gadap, Malir, Shah Faisal and Landhi towns.

On Wednesday, they had booked 180 shopkeepers.—APP
