TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 11: Dozens of information technology (IT) teachers and laboratory in-charges at government high schools of the district have not been paid salaries for the last six months.
A group of teachers told newsmen here on Tuesday that they had been recruited on a contract basis and last time they were paid salaries after six months.
When contacted, Executive District Officer (education) Malik Bashir Ahmad said he was unaware of the issue as IT teachers were not paid from the budget of education department. They were paid from a separate allocation, he said.
Meanwhile, a source told this correspondent that funds for the provision of equipment and computers to schools were provided by the World Bank while the amount under salaries head was equally shared by the federal and provincial governments.
ACCIDENTS: A man was killed and six passengers injured in a collision between a speeding wagon and a donkey cart on Tuesday near Chak 318-JB on Toba-Gojra Road.
Reports said Sharif of Chak 318-JB was on his way to farmland by a donkey cart when the wagon (9075-Karachi) struck against it, killing him on the spot. Six wagon passengers suffered injuries and were discharged from DHQ hospital after first-aid treatment. Police have arrested the wagon driver.
In another incident, a minor boy, Noman, was run over and killed by a speeding bus No (FDZ-1855) here on Tuesday at Adda Chiraghabad while crossing the Faisalabad-Jhang Road. A case has been registered.
