JACOBABAD, Sept 11: Some 20 villages of taluka Tangwani suffered 14-hour long power breakdown on Tuesday causing immense hardship to thousands of peoples.

Electricity went off at 10pm on Monday and restored at noon on Tuesday.

The affected villages include: Rasoolabad, Gaheja, Arsallah Bijarani, Gul Mohammad Bijarani, Taj Mohammad Bijarani, Jafarabad, Suhreyani, Jiyo Khan Malik, Khawand Bux Bahalkani, Abdul Baqi Khoso and others.

Due to severe heat and suffocation a large number of people were seen wandering on the roads and railway station.

Secretary Citizens Alliance Kashmore, Sabir Hussain Bajkani told reporters that the Hesco authorities had no proper reason for such long breakdown.

The people were told that a fault had been developed in Guddu power plant which caused the power suspension.

The villagers led by Sabir Hussain Bajkani, deputy secretary general Mohammad Khan Noonari (nazim UC Sabnoni), Noorullah Khoso and others took out a procession and raised slogans against the Hesco and reached at main Thul-Kandhkot road where they set the tyres at blaze and blocked the road for two hours.

They criticised the government which they said remained silent spectator over the situation. They also lamented that the politicians use to come to beg votes but do not come in the hour of need.

They resolved on the occasion to elect such representatives in the next elections who would cooperate with them and take interest in solving their problems.

About 35 flour mills remained closed. When the electricity was restored on the next day, long queues of people outside the mills for corn grinding were witnessed as there was shortage of flour in the area.
