HYDERABAD, March 15: A large number of Pakistan People’s Party activists including women wing leaders held a protest rally and observed token hunger strike on Friday.
The activists marched from the district council building to the Hyderabad Press Club. They were led by the president PPP, Hyderabad Taluka, M. Amin Lakho, Abdul Hakim Khoso, Ms Firdous Abro, and Farheen Mughal.
They were protesting against President Musharraf’s announcement that Ms Benazir Bhutto would not be allowed to take part in the general elections.
Talking to newsmen, M. Amin Lakho said that Ms Bhutto was a symbol of the federation, and added that general elections without her “were unacceptable”.
He said that to keep her away from the elections was in fact “a conspiracy to break Pakistan”.
